Changelog
What's new in JuicePress. Latest updates, new features, and improvements for the video compressor.
Version 1.4.0
New
- Live frame preview while trimming — hover anywhere on the filmstrip to see the exact frame and timestamp under your cursor. Dragging the start or end handle shows the same preview, so you can pick the perfect cut before releasing
- Click-and-drag to set a trim range — drag across the filmstrip to define a fresh start and end in one motion. Stray clicks no longer collapse your selection
- START and END frame thumbnails — small previews now sit beneath the START and END labels so you always see what each boundary looks like
- WebP poster images — the poster frame exported alongside each compressed video is now WebP, typically 75–90% smaller with no visible loss. File names change from
*-poster.pngto*-poster.webp - Universal build indicator — the About panel on macOS now distinguishes Universal builds from single-architecture builds
Improved
- The JuicePress wordmark now uses its dedicated logo type across the About panel, Welcome screen, and splash
- Pro options in Settings now lead straight to the Activation panel, so unlocking is always one click away
- Trim filmstrip thumbnails are now spread evenly across the whole video, even on tricky source files
- More reliable startup on Windows
Version 1.3.1
Fixed
- Guided tour step counter now shows the current step (1 / 6, 2 / 6, etc.) instead of the raw placeholder text
Version 1.3.0
New
- Guided tour — a quick walkthrough of the compression settings on first use so you know what every slider does. Right-click → "Show Guide" to replay it any time
- Notices & Acknowledgements — a new in-app page listing every open-source project JuicePress is built on, with full license texts
Improved
- Preset labels "Smallest" and "Custom" are now translated in all 10 languages
- License notifications moved to a floating toast in the corner instead of a banner across the top
- Smoother panel behavior — opening Settings, About, or Activation automatically closes the previous one
- Tooltips on the Home, Settings, and About buttons so you always know what they do
- Click the title bar text to see a quick note about the free edition
- Windows: clicking the app icon opens the context menu
